Weidenaar, a food producer, wanted to package their products in trays to improve presentation and hygiene. They approached Ordelmans and Van Uhm to work together to optimize the packaging process. Ordelmans was responsible for the packaging part, while Van Uhm supplied the weighing machine.
Challenge
The challenge for Weidenaar was to create an efficient and automated packaging process for their products in trays. They wanted a system capable of taking trays from a warehouse, de-nesting them and filling them in a controlled manner. Then the filled trays needed to be placed on an output conveyor.
Solution
Ordelmans and Van Uhm worked closely together to provide a customized solution to Weidenaar. The process was as follows:
- Warehouse and de-nesting: Ordelmans designed a machine with a warehouse where stacks of trays could be placed. These stacks of trays were automatically removed from the warehouse and de-nested. This means the trays were separated from each other to be ready for the filling process.
- Filling process: The denested tray was then placed in a circular disk that rotated one turn each time. In this way, the trays were passed a filling station, where they were filled with the product from Weidenaar.
- Output conveyor: After filling, the filled trays were placed on an output conveyor, where they could be further processed or packaged for shipment.
- Weighing Machine: Van Uhm supplied the weighing machine, which worked closely with the packaging section of Ordelmans. The weighing machine ensured that the correct amount of product was placed in each tray, ensuring accurate and consistent packaging.
Thanks to the collaboration between Ordelmans and Van Uhm, Weidenaar achieved several benefits:
