Diviande, a leading producer of meat products, needed an automated solution to transport T-bone steaks from the saw to a packaging machine.
Challenge
Manually transporting T-bones from the saw to the packaging machine was time-consuming and labor-intensive for Diviande. They wanted an automated solution to speed up the process and increase efficiency. It was critical that the conveyor system worked seamlessly with the thermoformer to ensure a smooth and integrated workflow.
In doing so, we worked with Van Uhm to make this project a reality. Van Uh m sold a deep-drawer (packaging machine) and Ordelmans was responsible for developing the conveyor system that would take the T-bones to the packaging machine.
Solution
Ordelmans and Van Uhm worked closely together to provide a customized solution to Diviande. The project proceeded in several phases:
- Workshop setup and testing: A test setup was created in Ordelmans 's workshop integrating the deep-drawing tractor and conveyor system. Diviande visited the workshop twice to view and test the process with real products. This allowed them to provide feedback and make any adjustments before everything was delivered.
- Conveyor System: Ordelmans designed and implemented the conveyor system that would transport the T-bones from the saw to the packaging machine. The system included a 180-degree turn so that the packaging machine and saw were side by side. This allowed the same person replenishing the saw to also remove the packaged T-bones from the packaging machine. This led to a more efficient workflow and reduced the need for additional personnel.
- Integrated workflow: Ordelmans 's conveyor system was seamlessly integrated with Van Uhm's thermoformer. This allowed the T-bones to be efficiently and accurately packed in sets of two side by side. The integrated workflow ensured a streamlined production process and increased efficiency.
Thanks to the collaboration between Ordelmans and Van Uhm, Diviande achieved several benefits:
